Program Assistant, Office of Fellowships and Internships
Marie started as a Program Assistant at the Office of Fellowships and Internships (OFI) in December 2017. In 2013, she graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. double major in Anthropology and Environmental Science. She was first introduced to government work through a Direct Hire Authority Resource Assistant Internship with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in Eugene, Oregon where she collected data on a bureau sensitive plant specious. Afterwards, she moved to Denver, CO to pursue an internship with the Forest Service as a Volunteer Engagement Coordinator at the Rocky Mountain Regional Office. Soon after, she joined the permanent federal workforce as a Staff Assistant at the BLM National Operations Center in 2015. Marie enjoys working with and mentoring academic appointments and is happy to be working with OFI to further diversity and research at the Smithsonian Institution. In her free time, Marie enjoys reading, hiking, spending time outdoors, and playing Ultimate Frisbee.
