The Terra Foundation Fellowships in American Art
The Terra Foundation Fellowships in American Art seek to foster a cross-cultural dialogue about the history of art of the United States up to 1980. They support work by scholars from abroad who are researching American art or by U.S. scholars who are investigating international contexts for American art. The application guidelines and deadlines are the same as for the Smithsonian Institution Fellowship Program.
Eligibility: Pre- and postdoctoral scholars from abroad or U.S. scholars who are investigating international contexts for American art will be considered. Topics up to 1980 are eligible. Applicants must propose a Smithsonian American Art Museum primary advisor/supervisor.
Application: Only one application is necessary for all Smithsonian American Art Museum fellowships; applicants listing a primary advisor/supervisor at the museum will automatically be considered in all relevant award categories. Applicants should use the online Smithsonian Institution Fellowship Program application here.
