A Whole New (Virtual) World
Becoming a Smithsonian Institution (SI) intern has never been easier or more convenient. Just ask Sabre Moore, an SI intern with the Office of International Relations last year as part of the U.S. State Department’s Virtual Student Foreign Service (VSFS). While studying a masters in museum studies at Johns Hopkins University, Sabre was able to intern at SI. Besides dodging all the financial and travel barriers which often come with internship opportunities, VSFS eInterns can gain real job experience while working around school schedules and other commitments.
VSFS eInternships provide opportunities for students to work on projects in a variety of disciplines while gaining professional skills. Sabre recounts how “my supervisor has done a wonderful job of showing me how the department works and making me feel like a part of the team. I love my internship because I can see the direct impact of my projects.”

Applications for the 2017-18 VSFS program are being accepted until 07/26/17. More information is available here.
